173rd FW unable to conduct flyovers

KINGSLEY FIELD, Ore. – The 173rd Fighter Wing out of Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon is unable provide requested flyovers until late 2027 due to aircraft conversion.

The last F-15 Eagle fighter jet departed Kingsley Field in December 2025.  The proposed bed down and operation of one formal training unit (FTU) squadron of F-35A Lightning II aircraft is awaiting final approval by the Department of the Air Force (DAF), with the projected arrival of aircraft in August 2027.

Currently, all flyover requests are being processed by the Oregon Military Department (OMD), with fighter jet flyovers being conducted by the 142nd Wing, located in Portland Oregon.  “Due to the vast number of requests and geographic distances, unfortunately, many flyovers will not be conducted until the aircraft conversion is completed at Kingsley Field,” said Col. Micah Lambert, 173rd Fighter Wing Deputy Commander.

The 173rd FW appreciates your support during this aircraft conversion and looks forward to resuming flyovers in the near future.
