Falcons Grab Two Wins in Alaska

WASILLA, Alaska – The Klamath Falls Falcons (13-2) grabbed two wins and secured their spot in the Todd Ryan Memorial Tournament championship game. After an hour and 15-minute rain delay, the Falcons defeated the Palmer Pioneers (3-7) and the host Wasilla Road Warriors (7-3). Here is how each game unfolded.

GAME 1: Klamath Falls 12, Palmer 1

Max Price had three hits and scored three runs as the Falcons earned a mercy-rule victory over the Palmer Pioneers in their first game of the Todd Ryan Memorial Tournament.

Price led off the game with a single and would later score on a sacrifice fly from Kollin Tacchini. P.J. Safford hit a groundball to third base and reached on an error, as Chase Barrett scored on the same play.

The Falcons’ steady attack led to another run in the second, with RBI hits from Corbin Hamilton and Ian Meyer leading to three runs in the third inning. In the top of the sixth inning, the Falcons hit the gas, scoring five runs and invoking the mercy rule. Jacoby Tacchini had a bases-loaded two-RBI single, followed later by a Corbin Hamilton single, scoring Barrett.

Price’s final line score was 3-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. He was helped by Hamilton, who went 2-3 with two RBI, Meyer was 1-3 with two RBI, and J. Tacchini was 1-3 with two RBI. For Palmer, Cody Otto was 1-3 with an RBI, and Craner Reed was 2-3.

Hunter Glidden earned the win for the Falcons, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out one batter. Hudson Broeder was the losing pitcher, going 3.0 innings and allowing four hits and six runs (three earned) with one strikeout.

GAME 2: Klamath Falls 10, Wasilla 0

Corbin Hamilton pitched a two-hit shutout in the nightcap, sending the Falcons to the championship game in the Todd Ryan Memorial Tournament.

The Falcons scored two runs in the first inning. Max Price singled to lead off the game and would later score on a wild pitch. Conner Shively scored later on an infield groundball. Klamath Falls added two more runs in the second with an RBI single from Hamilton and a double from Max Price. Price doubled in another run in the fourth inning. Shively also added an RBI in the fourth.

Hamilton pitched a complete game shutout, allowing two hits and punching out six batters, and earning his fourth win of the season. Jacob Johnson picked up the loss for Wasilla, pitching the first inning and allowing one earned run in that frame.

Offensively, Price was 3-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI. Shively was 1-2 with two RBI, and Ian Meyer was 1-3 with two RBI. Jaren Venie and Jacob Johnson were the only two players to have hits for Wasilla.

The Falcons will meet the Madisonville Rangers in the final game of group play at the Todd Ryan Memorial Tournament at 1:00 p.m. ADT on June 25th and will play in the championship game, scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m., with an opponent to be determined.
