High School Baseball

Lost River 13, Crosspoint Christian 9

Lost River got on the board in the first inning when Kellen Dunlea smashed a two-RBI double, followed by a single by Parker Staunton. Lost River added six more runs in the second to push the game out of reach. The Warriors continued to battle, getting RBI hits from Nate Gibson and Wyatt Moyles, but it wasn’t enough. Lost River amassed 16 hits as a club, led by a 3-for-4 outing from Colby Medeiros, who drove in three runs and scored once. Connor Guthrie was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a double. Guthrie also got the win on the mound, working 3.0 middle innings, allowing three hits, three earned runs, and striking out six.

Lost River 19, Crosspoint Christian 5

Kyle Diaz drove in five runs to help Lost River wrap up a sweep of the Warriors. Crosspoint captured an early lead when Brody Toner, Wade Petrik, and Jeremiah Powell all knocked in runs. The tide changed in the third, as Lost River plated eight runs, including a two-RBI triple from Diaz, as well as RBI hits from Colby Medeiros, Kellen Dunlea, and Keagan Dunlea. Lost River scored four more in the fourth and five in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule. Drew McDonald got the win for Lost River, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing three hits and no runs while striking out six.

Henley 7, Klamath Union 0

Henley took an early 2-0 lead, and RBI hits from Carson Siems and Ian Meyer provided insurance as the Hornets earned a conference victory. Connor Shively helped Henley take control in the second inning with a double. Shively finished 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, and three RBI. Meyer was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Hunter Glidden was spectacular on the hill, working 6.0 innings without allowing a hit and striking out eight. PJ Safford pitched 6.1 innings for Klamath Union, allowing nine hits and five runs with six strikeouts.

Henley 13, Klamath Union 0

Connor Shively belted two triples to help Henley to a mercy-rule victory and a season sweep of Klamath Union. The Hornets held a 6-0 lead through three innings, then plated seven in the fourth with RBI hits from Carson Siems and Porter Frost. Henley also capitalized on five Pelican errors. Hayden Poore got the win on the hill and combined with Ian Meyer to toss a no-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Mazama 3, Phoenix 2

Mazama scored in the top of the first inning when Jace Feeback hit a sacrifice fly, bringing home Max Rodgers. Phoenix tied the game in the second and took the lead in the fourth. In the sixth, Kellan Lee singled to tie the game and later scored the go-ahead run when Jayden Justice blasted an RBI double. Lee got the win on the mound for Mazama, working 6.2 innings and allowing three hits and two runs while striking out six.

Phoenix 11, Mazama 1

The Pirates took advantage of four Vikings errors and six walks to score 11 runs and secure a mercy-rule victory, avoiding a season sweep. Phoenix scored four runs in each of the first two innings and added one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Mazama’s lone run came in the third, when Max Rodgers scored on a passed ball. Joshua Borges took the loss for Mazama, working 1.0 inning and allowing three hits and eight runs.

High School Softball

Lost River 21, Chiloquin 3

Lost River amassed 18 hits in a dominant win over the Queens in a Special District 6 matchup. Meghan Carpenter led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and three RBI. The Raiders also got key contributions from Peyton Hickey, who was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Peyton Guthrie, who went 2-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI, and a triple. Hickey got the win in the circle, working 1.2 innings and allowing two hits and three runs.

Lost River 22, Chiloquin 6

The Raiders jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings, but the Queens responded with six runs in the bottom of the second. After loading the bases and scoring a pair, Rylan Borba blasted a three-RBI triple and later scored on an error to bring Chiloquin within two, 8-6. Lost River answered quickly, as a nine-run third inning put the game out of reach. Peyton Guthrie knocked in five runs on a 3-for-3 day and added three runs scored. She was supported by Eily Hawkins, who went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Henley 25, Klamath U./Crosspoint 5

The Hornets blasted three home runs in a dominant win at Conger Elementary on Friday. A 13-run fifth inning secured the mercy-rule victory. Layli Segura led the way, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and four runs scored. Jillian Vickerey also had a big day, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, and three RBI. Rylee Hillingsworth got the win, working 5.0 innings without allowing an earned run while striking out seven.

Henley 23, Klamath U./Crosspoint 2

Makayla Schroeder blasted two home runs and finished with six RBI to lead Henley to a season sweep. She went 4-for-4 with four runs scored. Hayden Higgins also homered, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Gracie White earned the win in the circle, working 4.0 innings and allowing six hits and one earned run.

High School Track & Field

Henley hosted the Roots Real Estate Invitational on Saturday, with the Hornet boys taking first place. North Medford finished second, followed by Klamath Union. On the girls’ side, Klamath Union placed first, with Henley second and Ashland third.

Henley’s Joe Janney posted a personal best of 10.64 to win the 100 meters. Klamath Union’s Kevin Serrato Cobian was runner-up and also set a PR (11.0) and won the 200 in 22.65. In the field events, Henley’s Makayla Schroeder recorded a personal-best throw of 38’6.75″ to win the shot put and also took first in the javelin (108’3″), nearly 10 feet ahead of Ashland’s Alexis Bakke (99’1″).

Oregon Tech Baseball

Bushnell scored three runs in the first inning to take control of Saturday’s CCC tournament game against Oregon Tech. The Beacons defeated OIT 5-1 behind eight innings and 10 strikeouts by starter DJ Kauahi. Oregon Tech sees its season come to an end.

Oregon Tech Softball

College of Idaho erased 3-0 and 4-2 deficits, as Madelyn Powell’s go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning gave the Yotes a 7-6 victory over Oregon Tech. The Owls turn their attention to the NAIA National Tournament, May 11th-14th.
