High School Baseball

Illinois Valley 10, Lost River 9

A late rally lifted the Cougars over the Radiers in the opening game of a doubleheader. Illinois Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring single runs in each of the first three innings. Lost River battled back in the third inning and scored a pair on a double from Connor Guthrie. The teams traded leads four times throughout, with the Cougars scoring two runs on an error in the seventh inning to steal a win. Jacob Alvarado finished 4-for-4 for Lost River with an RBI. Parker Staunton was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI.

Lost River 11, Illinois Valley 2

The Raiders used an explosive seven-run third inning to secure a split against Illinois Valley. Connor Guthrie finished 1-for-2 with a triple and three RBI. Keagan Dunlea was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Colby Medeiros pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, no earned runs, and three strikeouts.

Crosspoint Christian 22, Riddle 5

The Warriors used seven walks and capitalized on six Irish errors to coast to a huge win. The Warriors scored three runs in the first inning, seven in the second, three in the third, and nine in the fourth. Dylan Dejong finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple, and three RBI. Nate Gibson was 2-for-2 with a triple, four runs scored, and four RBI. Nate Bowlan was 3-for-4 with four runs and six RBI. Dejong got the win on the mound, working 4.0 innings, allowing eight hits, two earned runs, and seven strikeouts.

Crosspoint Christian 15, Riddle 0

Crosspoint jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, aided by an RBI triple from Dylan Dejong, and never looked back. Dejong would finish 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBI. He was helped by Wade Petrik, who was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Davis Hartwell also added two RBI and a triple on a 2-for-3 day. Petrik got the win on the mound, working 4.0 innings, allowing one hit and four strikeouts.

Henley 10, Phoenix 9

Carson Siems hit a walkoff single to complete the Hornet’s improbable comeback against Phoenix. Henley trailed 9-3 entering the sixth inning, but recorded six consecutive hits to score six runs and tie the game on an Ian Meyer double. With the game now tied at 9-9, Ryan Douglas led off the seventh with an HBP, Coner Shively walked, and Siems knocked in the winning run. Siems finishes the game 2-for-5 with two RBI. He was helped by Meyer, who was 2-for-four with two doubles and two RBI, and Jacoby Tacchini, who was 1-for-1 with a homerun and three RBI. Meyer was also the winning pitcher, working the final 1.0 inning, allowing just one hit.

Henley 14, Phoenix 0

Henley used a 10-run fourth inning to secure a mercy rule win in the nightcap. Derrick Cox got the scoring started in the fourth with a grand slam, and Henley rode that momentum through to the conclusion. Hunter Glidden tossed a one-hit shutout and punched out six batters in the win. Cox was the X-Factor for Henley, going 2-for-3 with 5 RBI and a grand slam. He was helped by Carson Siems, who was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. Corbin Hamilton was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Hidden Valley 17, Klamath Union 3

Klamath Union got on the board first as Tildon Coffman singled to score PJ Safford, but the Mustangs responded with five runs in the second and 11 more in the third to earn a mercy-rule victory. Reese Johnson was 2-for-2 at the plate, and Safford finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Coffman was the losing pitcher of record for the Pelicans, throwing 2.0 innings, allowing nine hits, 10 earned runs, and five walks. Mauricia Mendez earned the win for Hidden Valley in 4.0 innings.

Hidden Valley 11, Klamath Union 1

A two RBI single from Lakai Fitzsimmons ended this game in the sixth inning, as the Mustangs triggered the mercy rule. The Mustangs used brilliant pitching and took advantage of four Pelican errors in the win. Logan Law worked 6.0 innings in the win and struck out 13 batters, allowing three hits. PJ Safford was the losing pitcher of record for Klamath Union, working 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and only one earned run. Tildon Coffman was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Reese Johnson was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

High School Softball

Lost River 17, Illinois Valley 6

The Raiders offense used 17 hits and capitalized on six errors from the Cougars to earn a mercy-rule victory. Eily Hawkins was vital, going 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI, and two runs scored. Hallie Buller belted two triples in a 3-for-4 day with four RBI. Peyton Guthrie got the win in the circle, working 2.1 innings and allowing one hit while punching out four batters.

Lost River 19, Illinois Valley 4

Meghan Carpenter lined a double to score two runs, triggering a mercy rule in the third inning.  The Cougars plated three runs in the first inning, but Lost River responded with 12 in the bottom half. Carpenter finished 4-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles. She was helped by a 3-for-3 game from Hallie Buller, who scored three runs and had four RBI. McKenzie Lyman was 3-for-3 with four RBI and a triple. Maci Medeiros got the win in the circle, working 2.2 innings, allowing three hits and three strikeouts.

Hidden Valley 6, Klamath U./Crosspoint 5

The Mustangs outlasted the Pelicans in a game that featured five lead changes. Klamath Union jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Pels tied the game in the bottom of the second frame. Hidden Valley took a 4-3 lead in the fourth, but the Pels re-tied the game with a double from Caitlyn Fettinger in the sixth inning. But with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, the Pelicans hit a batter, and walked the next to allow Sam Lesher a go-ahead RBI single. Fittinger finished the day 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Ella Hammond was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Hammond took the loss in the circle, working 6.0 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs with three strikeouts.

Hidden Valley 17, Klamath U./Crosspoint 7

Kaylynn Thompson mashed two home runs and finished with six RBI as the Mustangs earned a mercy rule victory. For Klamath Union, Jocelyn Rice was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Emilia Sguera was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Anyssa Jimenez was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double. Dahlia Bunnell was the losing pitcher, working 3.0 innings and allowing six hits, seven earned runs, and four strikeouts.

Brookings 9, Mazama 8

Ella Reneau scored on a passed ball to earn a walkoff win for the Bruins. An error earlier in the inning allowed the game to become tied, as Mazama led 8-5 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. Satayvah Wilson finished the game 1-for-2 with three RBI and a run scored. Shealeigh Butcher was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Butcher also took the loss in the circle, going 6.2 innings and allowing six hits and seven earned runs along with 12 strikeouts.

Brookings 14, Mazama 7

Abbie Deshon was 2-for-3 with six RBI and a homerun as she lifted her Bruins to a sweep of the Vikings. Lily Kennel was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Satayvah Wilson was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Kennel took the loss in the circle, working 6.0 innings, allowing eight hits, eight earned runs, and eight strikeouts.

Walk-Off Senior Day Win Sends Owls into Postseason

Jacob Cook hit a dramatic ninth inning 2-run homer to erase a 10-8 College of Idaho lead and Michael O’Daniel lined a walk-off sacrifice fly later in the frame, as Oregon Tech closed out the regular-season with an 11-10 victory at Steen Sports Park.

Lady Owls Top EOU, Win CCC Regular-Season Title

Kristine Schmidt limited Eastern Oregon to one hit over the final five innings and Oregon Tech battled back from an early deficit to topple the Mountaineers, 5-3, to claim the outright Cascade Conference regular-season title at Peggy Anderson Field.
