2026 Title III Grant Program Application Period Opening

Klamath County expects to have approximately $290,000 of available Title III project funds. The application window for grant requests will be from May 1, 2026. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026. Projects must be submitted under the (3) Title III categories of Firewise, Search and Rescue, or Community Wildfire Protection Plan. Projects not meeting the category criteria listed on pages 4-6 of the Project Submission Form, or submitted after the deadline, will not be considered.

Title III of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act as renewed in Public Law (PL) 115-141 has specific funding requirements which include a 45-day public comment period.  Once the comment period is over, the Committee and Commissioners will review the comments and proceed with executing agreements.  Agreements for approved projects are anticipated to be executed by August 3, 2026.

Please carefully review the category criteria as changes have been made. Under P.L. 115-141, section 302(a)(2) provides that Title III funds may be used to reimburse for search and rescue and other emergency response activities, including firefighting and law enforcement patrols, performed on national forests and the specified BLM lands in western Oregon and paid for by the County.
