Henley Baseball: No. 1 Hornets Earn Opening Round Win Over No. 16 Baker

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Henley Hornets (27-1) only needed six innings to collect an 11-1 opening-round victory over the Baker Bulldogs (10-17).

Henley scored first in the bottom of the second inning when Lane Frank singled to knock in Beau Pyle. Henley tacked on another in the third when Luke Austin scored on a Connor Shively groundout. It was the fourth inning where Henley separated themselves by scoring four runs and adding three more in the fifth on a three-run homerun by Beau Pyle.

Pyle was the winning pitcher for the Hornets, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing one run, three hits, and striking out nine bulldogs. Corbin Hamilton came in relief to record one strikeout. Baker’s Jaxson Logsdon earned the loss after 4.0 innings of work allowing nine hits, nine runs, and four walks.

Offensively for Henley, Connor Shively and Beau Pyle had three RBIs each. Mark Carpenter finished 2-3 with a run scored and Aiden Hayes shared that same line. Luke Austin was 2-3 with two doubles, three runs scored, and an RBI. For Baker, Jaxon Logsdon recorded the only RBI on an 0-2 day. Jake McLoughtry and John Garcia were the only Bulldogs to earn base hits.

The season is over for Baker who reached the playoffs for the first time since 2022. The Bulldogs are losing one senior (Cole Richards) to graduation.
