Ortiz Named CCC Player of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech infielder Matthew Ortiz was named Rize Laboratory-Cascade Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office.

The junior, from Garden Grove, Calif., helped the Hustlin’ Owls to a 5-1 week – as Tech scored 10-or-more runs in all five victories.

Ortiz finished 10-for-18 in the 4-game series with Corban, scoring eight runs, stealing six bases, recording three doubles and driving in four. In last Monday’s doubleheader sweep at Eastern Oregon, he drove in seven runs – including his second home run of the year.

The Hustlin’ Owls return home this weekend to open CCC play, hosting British Columbia in a 4-game series.
