Embry-Riddle scored six runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on their way to a 10-0 five inning run rule victory over the Conquistador’s of Florida National in the NAIA Softball Opening Round in Klamath Falls on Monday afternoon.

ERAU’s Maddie Judge (Oro Valley, Ariz.) walked in the first and Leah Salas (Sahuarita, Ariz.) followed with a double. Judge and Salas both scored on defensive mistakes and the Eagles quickly led 2-0. Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawaii), 2-2 on the day, hit a homerun her first at bat and received 2 RBIs. The last two Eagle runs of the inning came on a double by Tatum Chestnut (Peoria, Ariz.) as she knocked in Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.) and Jaden Espinoza (Tucson, Ariz.).  After one inning, the score was Embry-Riddle 6, Florida National 0.

Judge started the 4th inning with another walk and advanced to second on a single by Salas.  After an error, the bases were loaded for Sulusi.  Sulusi earned her third RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to left field.  With two outs, a double by Almodoba brought home both Salas and Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.) to make the score 9-0.  Following Almodoba, Espinoza hit a double and the Eagles ended the game 10-0.

Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.), started the game for the Eagles and only gave up just two hits and had 8 strikeouts. Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) came in the game to finish and did not give up any hits and had 2 strikeouts.

Embry-Riddle will play again on Tuesday at 1pm against the #1 seed hosts Oregon Tech University.
