Area Businesses Struggle In Summer Without Traffic Lights

The final Third Thursday of the Summer takes place tomorrow night in Downtown Klamath Falls. Events start at 6 and go until 9 PM. This week’s event caps off a season for downtown business that have seen a drop in sales. Most  say  it is directly related to the traffic light test. Sue Connolly Pace of Cranberry Station and Soap says after years of growth, she’s lost sales this summer due to the lights, “There’s a lot of people who won’t come downtown… People always have issues with parking down here, but the traffic light situation has been a hot topic for this summer where people don’t like to come down here because of the traffic lights. Sales have decreased because of that situation and we have heard it specifically  from customers. ”  Pace says that Cranberry Station has lost about 20% in sales this summer compared to past years. Residents are invited to speak in the public comments section to voice their opinion of the lights during the City Council meeting this Monday August 21, 2023,  7PM at at 500 Klamath Avenue.
