Football Preview: #2 Henley Hornets Host #7 Cascade

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Henley Hornets (3-0) have gone through the wringer on the road this season and have come out on the other side looking confident, poised, and frankly really good. The Hornets battled through the rain on the coast, the heat in Central Point, and a hostile crowd at Ashland. Henley gets a home game for the first time in 2022 and it’s against the Cascade Cougars (2-1).

“I am just so excited,” said senior Quarterback Shaw Stork. “I had a coach tell me that we get to. A lot of times in life it’s you have to. But we get to have the opportunity to be playing football.”

The Hornets earned a win last week against Ashland with quality play on defense. Sophomore Mark Carpenter came up with two interceptions that helped Henley to victory. The Hornets look to replicate a solid defensive night.

“We expect big things out of this team throughout the rest of the season,” said Carpenter. “I think this is a game that will help us a lot going deeper.”

Cascade has proven to be a tough team to scout this year. The Cougars began the season with a loss to Baker (2-1) and cruised past Marshfield (2-1) in week two 30-6. They also earned a win against Sweet Home (1-2).

“They are really physical. They know their scheme,” said coach Alex Stork. “We have to stop the run by being disciplined and physical. Taking our steps and trusting teammates.”
