“After college at UNLV where I worked on the “Jazz Progressions” program as a volunteer to learn the mechanics of being a host, I started in this crazy Radio business as a go getter… as in, it was my job to go get stuff. Coffee for the morning guy, news from the teletype machine and whatever else needed getting. At some point, the program director at KOMP in Las Vegas gave me the opportunity to audition on air. I landed the overnight job in November of 1986. I met my son’s mother at the radio station during a visit. We parted ways 6 year later and I got a great son out of the deal. I met my current partner (Rhonda) in 2001 and it was actually kind of an accidental meeting. We started chatting on Match.com and I thought she was in a town in Texas, until she reassured me that she was in Las Vegas. We met for lunch and, outside of a separation due to and ex causing some chaos, we’ve been together ever since. We officially marked our 20th anniversary as partners in September of 2023. Since then, I’ve gained 6 grandkids and great respect for my kids. We lost one during the pandemic (please talk to someone if you are depressed) and deal with that every day. Our kids are the best and I’m happy we get to share this life. Made a radio career detour in 1998 after one of the engineers at Lotus Broadcasting in Las Vegas was critically injured in a helicopter crash and went to Electronics Engineering school (thanks to the boss’ urging and payment for said school) and got the degree and became a broadcast engineer. I returned to the on air side of the business in 2009 and decided it would be a full time decision, if I could find the right situation. Enter Basin Mediactive. I came to work here in December of 2013 asd the Production Director and Afternoon Host on 92.5 KLAD and migrated to Program Director and Morning host on 99.5 the Fox and returned to the engineering side of things as a part time addition. I recently celebrated my 10th anniversary here! Klamath Falls has become my home and I plan on spending the rest of my days here.”
Every weekday morning at 6, tune in with JD on the Fox Morning Show! At 7:15 JD will read the lyrics from one of your favorite songs. Guess the song (Artist and Title) and you’re in the running for a certificate from one of the Klamath Basin’s fine establishments! You’ll hear theatrical presentations of some terrible dad jokes, the Sports Kid delivers a 10 year old’s view on the world of sports, and some of the best Stand-Up is featured every week on the Friday Funnies! Occasionally, JD will say something and you’ll laugh… or spit coffee on your steering wheel. 99-5 the Fox is not responsible for coffee stained steering wheels.
