SBLive Oregon and The Oregonian/OregonLive released the 2023 4A all-state volleyball teams Wednesday, with three Basin players receiving recognition.
Mazama sophomore Cali Bitzer, who earned first team honors, was one of two underclassmen named all-state this season (the other, Marist Catholic freshman Lauren Rohman, was honorable mention). Bitzer had 191 kills, 112 digs, 65 blocks and 30 aces and was also the Skyline Conference player of the year.
Mazama senior Alexia Lowe received honorable mention after finishing with 482 assists, 307 digs, 133 kills, 80 aces and 14 blocks. She was also named first team all-Skyline Conference. Lowe and Bitzer helped the Vikings win their third straight league title and advance to their second straight state tournament.
Klamath Union junior Jacie Madden received honorable mention after recording 157 kills, 57 blocks, and 9 aces with a .245 hitting percentage. She was also named first team all-Skyline Conference. Madden helped lead the Pelicans to their first postseason appearance since 2016.
The all-state volleyball teams are determined by a classification-wide coaches vote.
