CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 2-ranked Oregon Tech Softball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for March 16 – March 22, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

OIT earned the honors after a dominant four game sweep over (RV) University of British Columbia, extending its win streak to 10 games and taking sole possession of first place in the CCC standings.

The Owls improved to 27-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play behind a complete team effort highlighted by elite pitching and timely hitting. In the opening doubleheader, Oregon Tech secured 4-0 and 2-1 victories, with Kristine Schmidt leading the way in the circle. Schmidt tossed a one hit shutout in game one with a career high 11 strikeouts and returned to earn the win in game two, allowing just two hits over five innings of relief work.

The nightcap featured clutch late game execution, as Brooklyn Loose delivered a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning to lift the Owls to the 2-1 extra inning win.

OIT carried that momentum into the second day, completing the sweep with 9-1 and 7-2 victories. Schmidt added another complete game performance in game one, allowing just one run on three hits to improve to 12-0 on the season, while Carli Moore matched the effort with a complete game three hitter in game two.

Offensively, the Owls were powered by Nita Cook (nine hits), Malia Mick (seven hits) and Sawyer Stenson (six hits), over the weekend. Addison Kachnik added a milestone moment, collecting her 200th career hit, while the team combined for 13 extra base hits across the final two games. Defensively, OIT was perfect with an impressive errorless performance across all four games.

Oregon Tech’s balanced performance on both sides of the ball helped separate them atop the CCC standings as the Owls now hold sole possession of first place. Next up, OIT prepares to host Corban University in its next weekend series.
