CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech forward Jackson Cooper was selected as McDonald’s-Urban Edge Network Cascade Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, announced today following a vote among the 11 head coaches.
In addition, Cooper was joined on the first-team All-CCC squad by senior guard, Dakota Reber.
The junior, from Portland, becomes the seventh Hustlin’ Owl to earn the CCC’s highest distinction and the first since current assistant, Mitchell Fink, won the award an unprecedented 3-straight years from 2018-20. Cooper joins LaMont Swinson (2001), current head coach Justin Parnell (2010), Joseph Foster (2011), Bobby Hunter (2012) and Fink in the exclusive group.
Cooper is among the CCC leaders in the top statistical categories, ranking No. 3 in scoring average (17.8) and rebounds per game (7.6), while leading the league in assists per game (5.8). He has made 57% of his field goal chances and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career during the Owls CCC quarterfinal match-up vs. College of Idaho.
Reber was honored after posting career-highs in scoring average (17.1) and rebounds per game (6.9) – both among the Top-10 in the CCC – while leading the league in CCC-only games in field goal percentage (61.2%).
The Owls will learn whether they receive an at-large bid to the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championships tomorrow at 4 p.m.
