Klamath County Association of REALTORS® Leverages Placemaking Grant to Support City Park Development in Chiloquin

The Klamath County Association of REALTORS® (KCAR) announced it has received a $7,500 Placemaking Grant to support creating a new shaded gathering area at the Chiloquin City Park helping transform underutilized public land into a vibrant community space designed to bring people together.

The local grant award is made possible through funding support provided to KCAR by the National Association of REALTORS® as part of its Community Development Advocacy program, which empowers REALTOR® associations to strengthen their communities through effective advocacy, partnerships, and on-the-ground initiatives.

Through this initiative, KCAR will support the City of Chiloquin in installing a new gazebo, ADA accessible picnic tables, grills and more, working collaboratively to deliver a project that reflects local needs, community input and shared stewardship. In addition to funding, local REALTORS® will support the project by volunteering their time to complete the installation. This project is being completed by the City of Chiloquin and Chiloquin Visions in Progress along with many other community partners, who are contributing volunteer time, materials, expertise, funds and more.

“This investment reflects our association’s commitment to building better communities by supporting projects that bring members of our community together.” said Gregg Sherrill, KCAR President.

Placemaking focuses on creating people-centered public spaces that strengthen neighborhoods by fostering connection, collaboration and civic pride. By leveraging this grant, KCAR is helping turn a local vision into a place where residents can gather, engage and build a stronger sense of community.

“This project responds directly to local needs and reflects what can happen when community partners work together.” said Kelley Minty, Klamath County Commissioner.

Projects like supporting the Chiloquin Park development reflect REALTORS®’ commitment to building better communities beyond the transaction—using local expertise, partnerships and advocacy to enhance quality of life and support vibrant, resilient neighborhoods.
