LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Oregon State men’s basketball team claimed a hard-fought 72-69 road victory over LMU Wednesday evening in Los Angeles.
Oregon State shot 49.1 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from 3-point range. The Beavers out-rounded LMU 35-27 on the night.
Josiah Lake II led the Beavers with 13 points, to go with five rebounds. Dez White put up 11 points, while Isaiah Sy and Matija Samar had 10 points apiece. Johan Munch finished just short of a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Keziah Ekissi tallied eight points off the bench.
Myron Amey Jr. led LMU with 24 points.
The Beavers trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half, before coming back to claim the victory.
An early Oregon State scoring drought allowed LMU to open up a 15-5 advantage. Oregon State battled back to get within five mid-way through the first half. The Beavers used a 9-0 run to take the lead with five minutes to go before the intermission.
Oregon State headed to the break leading 40-36. Lake led the way with eight first-half points.
LMU responded by tying things up less than four minutes into the second half, but Oregon State was able to recapture the advantage shortly thereafter. Six-straight Beaver points put OSU up 61-52 with 8:50 on the clock.
The Lions were back within three at the game’s final media break, but Oregon State was able to maintain control, claiming the three-point win.
The Beavers will now head south for a Saturday matchup with San Diego.
