HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – No. 6-ranked Freed-Hardeman limited Oregon Tech to three made field goals in the second half, outlasting the Lady Owls in a defensive battle, 68-51, inside the Brewer Sports Center.
Despite the No. 15-ranked Lady Owls (3-2) holding FHU to 24 second half points, OIT could not overcome a rough shooting half, converting just one of their final 15 field goal attempts.
Jenna Satterly led the Lions (9-1) with 19 points – including 8-straight points in an 11-4 run to open the third quarter, as a 44-33 FHU halftime lead turned into a 55-37 advantage.
Tech trailed 16-12 late in the first quarter, before consecutive triples from Alaina Stiles and Brooklynn Crouch extended the Lions lead to double figures. The Owls cut the margin to 27-20 on Tatum Schmerbach jumper midway through the second quarter – but were unable to get closer the rest of the day.
Olivia Sprague scored 14 to lead the Lady Owls, with Schmerbach adding 11 points and Brooke Anderson scoring 10. Kendall Fealey led all players with six steals.
OIT closes out their Mid-South trip on Monday, facing Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
