REDDING, Calif. – Reese Fletcher drove a first half 20-yard shot through the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner of the net, providing the lone goal of the match, as Oregon Tech claimed a 1-0 victory at Simpson University.

Playing on an artificial surface with temperatures above 100-degrees, OIT (1-0-1) capitalized on a Simpson mistake to score the goal, while keeper Harvey Bolland recorded a clean sheet to preserve a Hustlin’ Owls win.

In the 23rd minute, Ben Bradshaw played a cross from near the sideline that bounced twice on the turf through traffic – eluding the Redhawks (0-1) defense. Fletcher jumped the pass near the right corner of the box, firing a shot through the arms of Jacopo Trolese, for the goal.

Simpson put pressure on Bolland and the Owls – finishing the day with a 9-5 edge in shots – including a 68th minute free kick from Alan Gonzalez that banged off the crossbar. Inside the final two minutes, SU had a final chance for an equalizer, but Bolland stopped a shot from Dylan Sides – his fourth save of the day.

Tech returns to the pitch on Friday with an evening date at Division III George Fox.
