On August 27th, 2026, at approximately 10:56 pm, officers with the Klamath Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of Wantland Avenue for the report of a male subject who had been shot. Upon arrival of officers, it was determined that 54-year-old Saul Eduardo Estrada had sustained life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated and began investigating the incident. The investigation led to multiple search warrants being served and the arrest of 46-year-old Joseph Kerekes.
Joseph Kerekes was lodged at the Klamath County Jail for the charges of Murder II, Unlawful use of a weapon, and Reckless Endangerment.
