CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech softball dominated the Cascade Conference weekly awards, as Kristine Schmidt was honored at McDonald’s-Urban Edge Network Pitcher of the Week, while the Lady Owls were selected as Under Armour Team of the Week.
Schmidt was instrumental in OIT’s 4-game sweep of British Columbia, running their overall win streak to 10. The junior pitched 17 total innings, allowing just one run on six hits, striking out 19 – including a career-high 11 strikeouts in a Game 1, 1-hit shutout.
The Lady Owls moved into sole possession of first-place in the league standings with the sweep, outscoring UBC 22-4 in the series – including a 9-1 win in Game 3 where Tech recorded eight doubles, their highest single-game total since 1997.
OIT closes out a 12-game homestand this weekend, hosting Corban for Friday and Saturday doubleheaders.
