CHILOQUIN, Ore – The 2026 Mountain Valley League Tournament began with a traditional opening ceremony featuring a drum circle and Klamath Tribal dancers welcoming all competing teams into the newly constructed gym at Chiloquin High School. The evening ended with the host Panthers hoisting the league trophy. Here is how each game unfolded.
Girls Championship: North Lake 38, Rogue Valley Adventist Acad. 28
The first game of the day saw the North Lake Cowgirls complete an undefeated league season and claim their second conference title in three seasons. North Lake led after the first quarter, 11-8, and opened up the second frame with a 3-point play from MVL Player of the Year Naomi Roth. But after building a six-point lead, the Cowgirls went the final 6:55 of the half without a point, allowing the Lady Hawks to take the lead at halftime, 21-14.
The game flipped on its head in the second half as the Cowgirls outscored RVAA 18-0 in the third quarter and went on to claim a 38-28 win. Roth fueled the comeback for North Lake, scoring 12 second half point and finishing with 17 in the game. Emma Baker added 11 points for the Cowgirls. All-MVL Second Team recipient Neah Lauesi led the Hawks in scoring with 11 points.
Both teams advance to the 32-team 1A OSAA State Championships, with Rogue Valley Adventist Academy earning the #15 seed and facing #15 Powder Valley. North Lake enters #11 and will face #22 Mohawk.
Boys 3rd Place: Rogue Valley Adventist Acad. 65, Prospect Charter 34
The second game of the day was a tale of two very different ball clubs. The winner would get an auto-bid to the 32-team 1A OSAA State Championships, but Rogue Valley Adventist Academy was lined up to earn an at-large bid, even if they dropped the game. Prospect scratched and clawed their way to a shot at the postseason after beating Central Christian 48-41 the night before.
The win the night before may have been all the gas the Cougars had left, though. The first quarter was competitive with RVAA in front 18-11 after eight minutes. But the opening four minutes of the second quarter saw a 15-0 run for the Hawks, which proved too much for Prospect to come back from. RVAA led 43-16 at halftime, and 58-26 after three quarters.
Unofficial leading scores included 13 points from Noah Lauesi for the Hawks. All-MVL Second Teamer Luke Cox and Honorable Mention Coltyn Lindstrom led Prospect Charter with 10 points each.
Prospect finished the season with a 6-8 conference record, their most wins in league since 2021-22, but missed the postseason. Rogue Valley Adventist earned the MVL’s third automatic bid to the 32-team 1A OSAA State Championships and will be the #17-seed taking on #16 St. Paul.
Girls 3rd Place: Crosspoint Christian 44, Central Christian 26
The third game of the day was to decide who earned the final automatic bid out of the MVL, and who would have to rely on hope for an at-large state playoff berth. This was the third meeting between these teams this season, as is the case with every matchup at the conference tournament, but with extra history as Crosspoint handed Central their first loss of the season back on January 6th, 38-37. The Tigers would return the favor, defeating the Warriors 44-39 on January 30th, in Klamath Falls.
The rubber match lived up to expectations in the first half as a tightly contested affair saw Crosspoint up 25-22 at halftime. The Warriors were able to keep the Tigers at arms length in the first half, but the second half was a completely different tale as Crosspoint ratcheted up the defensive intensity, disallowing a made Central bucket for the rest of the game.
All-MVL First-Team recipient Rylee Paulson led Crosspoint in scoring with 14 points and added an outstanding eight steals and five rebounds. Another MVL first-teamer, Hannah Langford, added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Tabitha Terry, second-team all-league, led Central in scoring with seven points.
Both teams advance to the 32-team 1A OSAA State Championships, with Central Christian earning the #27 seed and facing #6 Echo. #20 Crosspoint Christian visits #13 Umpqua Valley Christain.
Boys Championship: Chiloquin 64, Crosspoint Christian 49
The fourth and final game of the day lived up to its main event billing as the two local teams put on a show in front of a packed house inside the newly opened gymnasium at Chiloquin High School. It was the third meeting between the Panthers and Warriors, with Chiloquin having earned wins in the first two matchups. On January 16th, Crosspoint was forced to forfeit its game with Chiloquin after it was completed due to an ineligible player, despite having outscored Chiloquin 62-47. The Panthers won without issue on February 10th, 61-47.
Crosspoint Christian was able to dictate the pace in the first half, building a 32-27 lead at the halftime break. Lalan Wilder nearly single-handedly changed the complexion of the game, opening the second half on a 6-0 run himself, giving Chiloquin the lead. Wilder never relented, racking up 17 second-half points and finishing with a game-high 29 points. With 6:15 to go, Davis Hartwell hit a corner three to bring Crosspoint back with a point, 45-44. After a timeout, Chiloquin, fueled by the raucous crowd in attendance, embarked on a championship-clinching 19-5 run.
Wilder, a first-team all-league recipient, led all scorers with 29 points. Conference Player of the Year Denver Bravo added 16 points in the win, while second-teamer Dilen Black scored 13. For Crosspoint, second-teamer Caden Moritz led the team with 22 points.
Both teams advance to the 32-team 1A OSAA State Championships, with #9 Crosspoint Christian hosting #24 Klickitat/Glenwood, and #8 Chiloquin welcoming #25 Harper Charter. If both teams win their opening round playoff matchups, they will meet again at Chiloquin High School on Friday to decide who makes it to the final site in Baker City.
