Klamath Union Boys & Girls Defend Homecourt Against Phoenix
The Klamath Union Lady Pelicans (3-3; 7-7) outlasted the Phoenix Pirates (6-8; 2-4) in overtime 68-66. Ariah Miller led the Pels to a fourth-quarter comeback, outscoring Phoenix 22-6 to force overtime. Miller hit the game-tying shot with 1.7 seconds left. The extra period saw both teams embark on a scoring drought again, until Miller left her mark with an offensive rebound and a putback for the game-winning bucket. Miller would finish with 17 points and six rebounds. Lisette Watah led the team with 25 points, and Isabella Armijo added 18. The Pelicans take on Hidden Valley on Tuesday.
The Klamath Union boys (5-1; 10-8) defeated the Phoenix Pirates (0-6; 1-16) 56-49. This marks the fourth consecutive win for the Pels, and they’ll visit Hidden Valley on Tuesday. No further stats were provided.
Mazama Girls Victorious; Boys Lose Against Hidden Valley
The Mazama Lady Vikings (3-2; 7-10) beat the Hidden Valley Mustangs (1-5; 6-12) 50-40 behind a 19-point outing from Leah Hernandez. Mazama led most of the contest, up by one point after the first quarter, and expanded the lead to five by halftime. Hidden Valley made a late run, outscoring Mazama 17-11 in the final quarter, but the Vikings held on for the road win. Hernandez was helped by 10 points from Saige White and seven points from Irati Zaldua-Balerdi. Hidden Valley was led by Taylor Graham wth 14 points. This marks Mazama’s third straight win and third game in a row scoring exactly 50 points. They’ll play Henley on Tuesday.
The Hidden Valley boys (6-0; 12-6) took advantage of a cool shooting night for Mazama (2-3; 4-12) to defeat the Vikigns 76-59. The game was even through much of the first quarter, but Mazama only made three shots in the second quarter as the Mustangs’ lead grew. Individually, Kaydon Gannett secured a double-double for the Vikings with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Kellan Lee and Blake Peters each had 11 points. Mazama finished the game shooting 32% from the field and 55% at the line. This loss extends the current losing streak to three games. They will take on Henley at home on Tuesday.
Split Sites and Split Results for Henley Basketball
The Henley boys and girls basketball teams battled the Madras White Buffaloes on Friday, with the boys hosting and the girls on the road.
The Lady Hornets (5-0; 12-4) defeated Madras (2-1; 9-9) 65-45 behind another marvelous outing from Makayla Shroeder. The sophomore dominated, earning 25 points and 25 rebounds in the win. Lily Fussell added 11 points with three made triples, nine rebounds, and five steals. Marlee Simmelink led the White Buffaloes with 12 points. This is Henley’s sixth win in a row, and they sit at #4 in the OSAA Power Rankings. They will take on Mazama on the road on Tuesday.
The Henley boys (1-4; 7-11) didn’t have great luck in the Hornet’s Nest, falling to Madras (3-0; 15-3) 51-33. The Hornets played 4A’s top team close in the first quarter, but the second quarter saw a complete scoring drought as Henley trailed 25-9 at halftime and couldn’t close the gap. Henley had three players at the top for scoring, as Carson Siems, Ries Schmerbach, and Kai Taylor each scored seven points. Matthew Suppah-Scott led the victors with 17 points. Madras has won five straight games and supplanted Molalla as the #1 team in the 4A Class. Henley has lost back-to-back games and will face Mazama on the road on Tuesday.

The Lost River boys (3-3; 9-11) recorded a forfeit win over Oakridge on Friday. They’ll play Lowell on Tuesday.
The Lost River girls (4-2; 10-10) defeated Oakridge 44-23. No additional stats were provided. They’ll face Lowell on Tuesday.
The Bonanza girls (5-1; 10-8) defeated Culver 46-24. This is three straight wins for the Raiders, and they’ll play Culver on Tuesday.
The Bonanza boys (4-2; 10-9) defeated Culver 61-38. Issac Noble led the team with 29 points. They’ll play Culver on Tuesday.
The Chiloquin girls (1-6; 7-10) lost to North Lake 61-39. It is Chiloquin’s third loss in a row, and ninth loss in the last 10 games. They’ll play Rogue Valley Adventist on Thursday.
The Chiloquin boys (9-1; 16-4) defeated North Lake 78-32. Denver Bravo led the team with 18 points. Dilen Black scored 15, and Lalan Wilder added 13. They play Gilchrist on Tuesday.
The Crosspoint Christian boys (8-1; 15-4) defeated Central Christian 69-50. Brock Throne led the team in scoring with 16 points. Caden Moritz had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. They’ll play Prospect Charter on Tuesday.
The Crosspoint Christian girls (3-3; 12-4) lost to Central Christian 44-39. Hannah Langford, Olivia Fenner, and Rylee Paulsen each scored 7 points. They play Prospect Charter on Tuesday.
