Charli xcx film ‘The Moment’ debuts at Sundance Film Festival

More than a year after her ‘brat’ summer Charlie xcx will star in The Moment, A24’s ‘mockumentary’ which just debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, and will be released in select theaters on January 30th.

Written/directed by Aidan Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, The Moment is based on an original idea from Charli. A press release shared provides a brief synopsis: A rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.”

Per Deadline“Playing a fictionalized version of herself, A24’s The Moment follows Charli as a pop star embarking on her first arena tour amid the massive success of her new album, which breeds a monster that the artist can no longer control as she continues to question whether to let the suits milk brat summer for all it’s worth or end the party on her terms.”

Charli and A24 had previously shared a minute-long teaser trailer revealing the star-studded cast for The Moment which displayed the names of the cast, accompanied by a remixed version of Icona Pop’s “I Love It” (which the duo co-wrote with Charli xcx).  The film will star Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Rachel Sennott, Kylie Jenner and Alexander Skarsgård, with Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates Drew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl.

Longtime collaborator A.G. Cook provided original music for The Moment, which was produced by Charli and David Hinojosa.  Check out the trailer: HERE.
