Mazama Girls, Klamath Union Boys Grab Wins at Pel Court

The Mazama Lady-Vikings used a double-double from Saige White to earn a 50-37 win over Klamath Union. Leah Hernandez contributed a game-high 18 points on 8/12 shooting, and Norah Radford pitched in 10 points. Klamath Union was led in scoring by Isabella Armijo with 11 points and 10 rebounds. She also led all players with seven steals in the game. This win for Mazama pulls them even with Klamath Union in the Skyline Conference, now each with a 2-2 league mark, and a 6-10 overall record. Klamath Union will try to hand Henley its first loss of the season when they meet on Tuesday, while Mazama is off until Friday, when they visit Hidden Valley

The Pelican boys produced a fine shooting night, nailing 12 three-pointers as a team to quell the Vikings 69-40. The Pels were led by Tobias Thomas with 21 points, 15 of which were made triples. Tildon Coffman added 13 points with three made from downtown, and Tristan Klecker scored 11 with a made three-pointer in the first quarter. The Vikings were paced by freshman Blake Peters with 10 points on 4/8 shooting. No other Vikings surpassed six points, with Jordan Klanke and Jaxton Hathcer reaching that mark. The Pels have now won three-of-four and will face Henley on Tuesday. Mazama is in action Friday at Hidden Valley as they look to sink the Mustangs atop the league.

Chiloquin Boys Remain Unbeaten* in Mountain Valley League

The Chiloquin Panthers boys basketball team defeated Harvest Christian 70-40. Edward Jones led the Panthers with 17 points and added four rebounds. Denver Bravo scored 13 points, and Lalan Wilder scored 10. It was a good bounce-back win for Chiloquin, who suffered a 58-57 loss to #14 Adrian the day prior.

The Panthers remain unbeaten in Mountain Valley League play; however, a note is needed. On January 16th, the Panthers recorded a forfeit win against Crosspoint Christian. Despite the Warriors outscoring Chiloquin 62-47, Crosspoint used an ineligible junior varsity player, resulting in the forfeit. The Panthers face Central Christian on Tuesday.

Henley Boys and Girls Dispatch Phoenix

The Henley girls rolled past the Phoenix Pirates 84-18. No Individual stats were provided. This win marks Henley’s fourth straight, and their third game of the season scoring 80+ points. Their 70 points-per-game lead the 4A classification. They’ll face Klamath Union on Tuesday.

The Henley boys found their first win of the Skyline Conference slate, 67-36 over Phoenix. Carson Siems led the Hornets with 17 points and three made triples. Micah Ibarra scored 14 points, fueled by a 10-point third quarter. Ries Schmerbach added 10 points in the win. Phoenix freshman David Flood led the Pirates with 17 points. No other Pirates scored in double-digits. This loss for the Pirates marks their eighth in a row. Henley snapped a three-game skid and will face Klamath Union on Tuesday at Pel Court.
