KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – College of Idaho used a 16-4 run spanning 10 minutes between the third and fourth quarter to pull away from Oregon Tech, as the Yotes claimed a 66-57 victory over the Lady Owls at Danny Miles Court.
Tatum Schmerbach scored a game-high 24 points for OIT (9-7, 5-3 CCC), but C of I forced 18 turnovers and converted from the foul line to complete the upset win.
Tech opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run, getting a 3-pointer from Olivia Sprague and baskets from Schmerbach and Jozie Ramos, to take a 34-29 lead. The Owls led 38-33 with just under six minutes left in the period, before Lainee Houillion scored 6-straight points and Kylie Waltermeyer canned a trey, starting the rally for the Yotes (12-4, 6-2).
Schmerbach converted on the block to cut the C of I lead to 53-49 – but Anna Mooney closed out the game by connecting on 10-straight free throws, part of a 16-point night, ending a 7-game losing streak to the Owls.
Ramos had 11 points and Avery Andrews scored eight points off the bench for OIT, while Waltermeyer scored 12 for C of I. The Yotes outscored Tech, 18-4, off of turnovers.
The Lady Owls embark on a 4-game road trip, beginning Tuesday night at Southern Oregon.
