Henley Girls Dominate, Klamath Union Boys Outpace Hornets in League Opener
The Henley Lady Hornets (1-0; 7-4) defeated the Klamath Union Lady Pelicans (0-1; 4-4) in the Skyline Conference Opener on Friday night, 86-17. It was the fewest points Henley has allowed in a game this season, and their second-highest scoring output.
The Hornets wasted no time jumping out to an early advantage, as Makayla Schroeder scored 13 first-quarter points, helping Henley to a 31-7 lead after the first, and a 59-9 halftime advantage. Henley continued to pile on the steals, rebounds, and scores to ease into a lopsided victory in the first league game of the season.
Henley was led in scoring by Schroeder, who finished with 23 points and added 10 rebounds with three steals. Other notables for Henley included Senia Campos, who scored 12 points and three assists, and Kennedi Modin, who scored nine points with six assists and five steals. Lily Fussell had 11 points and four steals. For Klamath Union, Lisette Watah scored six points to lead the team.
In the boys game, Klamath Union (1-0; 6-7) downed the Henley Hornets (0-1; 6-7) 51-40 with the help of a hot shooting night from Tobias Thomas.
The Pels earned a first-quarter lead after Thomas nailed two three-pointers and added two more in the second quarter to help Klamath Union to a 29-23 halftime lead. The hot shooting continued for Thomas, and staunch perimeter defense helped Klmath Union keep Henley at bay. Klamath Union would finish the game with nine three-pointers made, where Henley had four.
Thomas led all scorers with 20 points. He was helped by Tildon Coffman with 11 points, and Landon Bogatay scored eight. Henley was led by Kai Taylor with 12 points. Carson Siems pitched in 11 points with three made triples.
Henley and Klamath Union continue league play on January 13th. The Hornets host Mazama, and the Pelicans welcome Hidden Valley. Tipoff for both girls’ varsity contests is 6:00 p.m.

In the win against RVAA (2-1; 5-2), the Warriors received great contributions from their starters, building a sizable lead by the end of the third quarter. For the Hawks, Enoch Perry led the group with 22 points.

It is the second loss for Crosspoint this season, and each has come in overtime. The Warriors got contributions from Rylee Paulsen, who led the team with 16 points on five made threes. Hannah Langford scored 12 points and collected eight rebounds, while Chloe Butler added seven points and nine rebounds. The Hawks were led two-fold by Kintyre McNaught and Neah Lausesi, each with 12 points.
