KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech sent their senior class out in style, as the Lady Owls dominated Evergreen in a 25-13, 25-13, 25-9 victory at Danny Miles Court.
OIT (12-13, 6-12 CCC) combined for 12 service aces in the win, while limiting the visiting Geoducks to 12 kills and 20 attack errors on the night.
Senior pins Savanna Sterck and Lex Boccia each had 11 kills, part of a Lady Owls attack that hit at a .286 clip. Fellow senior Willow Jacobson had six kills and four blocks – surpassing the 200-block mark for her career, while senior libero Abigail Sorensen led all players with 13 digs and four aces, surpassing the 1,000-dig mark at OIT.
Tech opened the match on a 10-3 run, getting two combo-blocks from Jacobson and Aleksen Thayer, extending the lead to 19-9 on an Alison Miller ace – one of five OIT aces in the set win.
Sterck took over early in Set 2, powering home five kills in an 11-1 run that erased an early 4-3 lead by the Geoducks (1-21, 1-17), with the Owls holding a 15-3 edge in kills in the frame.
Set 3 was all OIT, jumping to a 10-1 lead – hitting at a match-best .455 percentage – with Boccia leading the way with four kills.
The Lady Owls ended with a 40-12 edge in kills, with Lucy Boyd leading all players with 36 assists and Thayer finishing with five blocks.
Sophia Scroggins led Evergreen with six kills and six digs.
Tech closes out the regular-season next weekend at Bushnell and Corban.
