Klamath Water Users Association Welcomes Wyatt Kane as Water Resources Project Manager

Klamath Water Users Association (KWUA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Wyatt Kane as its new Water Resources Project Manager, effective November 3rd. In this role, Mr. Kane will support KWUA’s mission to ensure reliable water use across the Klamath Basin by managing key water resource projects, coordinating with member districts, and advancing technical and engineering initiatives that benefit Basin agriculture and the broader community.

Raised in the agricultural community of Northern California, Mr. Kane brings a background in agricultural engineering and hands-on project experience. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Bioresource and Agricultural Engineering, focusing on irrigation practices, water conveyance systems, and groundwater management.

Kane’s professional background includes working on reservoir development and canal restoration projects alongside his father, a general contractor, as well as engineering support for the California Strawberry Commission and JP Donovan Construction. This combination of technical training and field experience provides a solid foundation for his work at KWUA.

“We are excited to welcome Wyatt to the KWUA team,” said Elizabeth Nielsen, Executive Director. “His work at the Association will strengthen our efforts to address the Basin’s ongoing water challenges and support the agricultural community. Wyatt brings an impressive mix of work ethic and genuine enthusiasm for agriculture and the Klamath Basin, and we are fortunate to have him join KWUA.”

Mr. Kane shared his excitement about joining KWUA and the Klamath community. “The Klamath Basin is a remarkable place, with its large-scale agriculture, advanced water conveyance systems, and diverse wildlife,” he said. “I’m eager to learn from local producers and partners while contributing to projects that help ensure a reliable water future for the Basin.”

Wyatt and his girlfriend, Erin, recently relocated to the area along with their two dogs and four horses. He looks forward to meeting community members and becoming an active part of the Basin’s agricultural network.
