Hornets Earn Share of Skyline Conference Volleyball Title
The Henley Hornets are champions in the Skyline Conference for the second consecutive season. With a 3-0 win over Mazama on October 14th, the Hornets secured at least a share of the league title. Thier perfect 6-0 record is 1.5 games better than Phoenix with two games remaing. The season finale is booked for October 23rd against the aforementioned Pirates. But if the Hornets can dispatch Klamath Union in thier penultimate game on the 21st, they’ll have earned the league title outright.
Currently, Henley has not dropped a set in the month of October. Thier 11 set losses this season are the second fewest in the 4A classification, and seventh best reguardless of classification statewide.
Henley Soccer Closes In On Playoff Berth
With thier 8-1 win over Hidden Valley on October 16th, the Henley boys’ soccer team clinched a playoff berth for the fifth consecutive season. The Hornets are 9-1-1 overall with a 6-0 mark in league play. The win over the Mustangs guranteed Henley to finish no worse than second place in the league, still with a shot at the conference title. The Skyline Conference top two teams automatically make the OSAA 16-team postseason bracket. In 2024, the Hornets won the State Championship with a 3-2 win over North Marion
The girls’ standings are tougher to decipher. At the time of publishing, all three Klamath Basin schools in the conference have a shot at the league championship. Henley is 5-0-1 with two games remaining, while Klamath Union and Mazama are each 3-1-1 with three matches remaining. Henley faces Mazama on October 20th, then Klamath Union on the 28th. They’ll have two chances to claim a third consecutive conference championship.
