BILLINGS, Mont. – Playing a player down for the entire second half, the Oregon Tech defense battled throughout, but Rocky Mountain broke through with 15 minutes remaining, earning a 1-0 victory over the Lady Owls at Herb Klindt Field.
An even first half transitioned into a defensive battle for the Lady Owls (6-3-2, 2-2-1), as a red card in the final minute of the first half, giving the Battlin’ Bears the advantage.
Rocky (5-2-1, 3-1-1) had the run of play in the second half, posting a 9-1 edge in total shots – with Tech keeper Emma Beavin making three key saves.
Unfortunately for the Lady Owls, a quality run down the left side by Charlize Davis in the 76th minute ended with a left-footed drive into the left corner of the net for the lone goal of the match.
OIT had their lone chance in the 80th minute, but a Jaylee Curran shot was stopped by RMC keeper Matea Vernon.
Rocky finished the day with a 13-4 edge in shots.
Tech heads home, squaring off with Providence on Friday at 12 p.m.
