Klamath County is excited to announce that we received a notice of grant award, from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Local Government Grant Program, for a $715,000.00 grant to build the Klamath County Library Community Courtyard. The new courtyard will be located in the currently vacant lot at 296 Main Street.
This exciting project will create a vibrant multi-use community space designed to enhance public engagement and foster community connection. Features of the Community Courtyard will include a small amphitheater for library programming and public events, a beautiful park area, picnic facilities, an inviting water feature, and fully ADA-accessible restrooms and pathways.
The Klamath County Library Community Courtyard will serve as an outdoor hub for gatherings, arts and cultural activities, and quiet relaxation, providing a welcoming space for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.
“This grant award is a significant investment in Klamath County’s future,” said Commissioner Kelley Minty. “The Library Community Courtyard will be a welcoming space that celebrates our community and enhances the resources available at our library.”
“Klamath County libraries are more than just buildings with books—they are true community gathering places,” said Commissioner Derrick DeGroot. “This new courtyard will expand what the library can offer, providing an outdoor space for learning, connection, and celebration that everyone can enjoy.”
“The project reflects the County’s commitment to creating public spaces that enrich community life and support ongoing growth and development,” said Commissioner Andy Nichols. “We are grateful to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and the LGGP Advisory Committee for their support of this important project.” Construction is expected to begin next year.
