CORVALLIS, Ore. – Five Beavers have been named team captains for the 2025 season as announced on Friday. The 2025 team captains include quarterback Maalik Murphy, running back Anthony Hankerson, wide receiver Trent Walker, defensive back Skyler Thomas and outside linebacker Nikko Taylor.
Thomas is the lone returning captain for the Beavers, serving as one last season. He is the Beavers’ returning leader in tackles after posting 81 a year ago, adding nine pass breakups.
Taylor, meanwhile, also led the Beavers with 2.5 sacks a season ago, adding 7.5 tackles for loss and 46 tackles, which ranked third on the team. He is in his third season at Oregon State.
Hankerson finished with 1,082 rush yards, the 19th season of 1,000 or more by an Oregon State running back. He also finished amongst the nation’s leaders with 15 rushing touchdowns.
Walker, meanwhile, caught 81 passes in 2024, seventh-most in a single-season by an Oregon State player. He tallied 901 receiving yards and enters the year with 967.
Murphy is a transfer from Duke where broke the Blue Devils’ single-season record for passing touchdowns with 26 a year ago. He also threw for 2,933 yards, completing 60 percent of his passing attempts.
