MEDFORD, Ore – The Klamath Falls Falcons (18-5-1) attempted a late rally, but lost to the Phoenix Pirates (3-4) in a non-league contest at Lithia & Driveway Fields. The Falcons fell behind early, 10-1, but chipped away to bring the go-ahead run to the plate in the top of the ninth. Phoenix held on for a 10-8 win.

The Pirates scored three runs in the first inning, with two coming off a double from Brody Ahlin. Phoenix piled on in the third inning with a pair of runs and added five runs in the fourth inning. Alex Charleton cleared the bases with a three-run double to build the Pirates’ advantage.

The Falcons scored a single run in the second inning after a sacrifice fly from Ryan Douglas. The Klamath Falls offense was quiet until the seventh inning, when Kollin Tacchini doubled to knock in a run, and would later score on a Chase Barrett groundout. The Falcons continued to battle, scoring a pair of runs in the ninth inning, but left the tying run on base to end the ballgame.

Jacoby Tacchini, Conner Shively, Corbin Hamilton, and Carson Siems each had three hits, part of an 18-hit Falcons attack. The thorn in the side of the Falcons was leaving 15 runners on base in the contest. For Phoenix, Charleton finished 2-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Ahlin was 1-3 with three RBI.

Sam Shilts earned the win on the bump for the Pirates, working 6.0 innings in the start, allowing seven hits and a run while punching out four batters. Colby Medeiros was the losing pitcher, going 4.0 innings, allowing 12 hits and 10 runs (eight earned) while striking out three. Carson Pimley was vital to keeping the Falcon within striking distance in relief, tossing 4.0 innings of scoreless baseball.

Klamath Falls will have a chance to return to the win column on July 3rd in an area doubleheader against the North Jackson Royals. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with live streaming video on mybasin.com
