Lightning Impacts The Falcons in Area Doubleheader

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Klamath Falls Falcons (18-4-1; 8-1) earned a victory against the Grants Pass Diggers (4-13; 0-11) in the first game of a doubleheader, but a lightning storm postponed the nightcap.

The Falcons wasted little time putting up offense in their homecoming. Max Price led off the first inning with a single, and Conner Shively reached on an error. Jacoby Tacchini and Kollin Tacchini each earned an RBI.

The Klamath Falls squad added more runs in the second inning, when Chase Barrett hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, and Max Price added an RBI single. Shively also knocked in a run on a groundball. The Falcons also added one run in the fourth and two in the fifth en route to the 8-1 victory.

Hayden Poore tossed a complete game in his fifth win of the summer, allowing eight hits and one run while striking out two batters. Blake Zamora earned his second loss, working 5.1 innings, allowing nine hits and six earned runs.

Price finished 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and P.J. Safford was 2-3 with a run scored. For Grants Pass, Zamora was 1-3 with an RBI.

The game finished in the bottom of the sixth inning as a lightning delay turned into a full postponement when a power issue caused the stadium lights to malfunction.

The Falcons head back out on the road, taking on the Cascade Christian Challengers on July 2nd for a single 9-inning affair. The first pitch is scheduled for noon with live streaming video on mybasin.com.
