Falcons Drop Season Opener to AAA Medford Mustangs

MEDFORD, Ore – The Klamath Falls Falcons (0-1) opened the 2025 season in Medford and fell to the Mustangs (2-0) 22-1.

The Mustangs wasted little time getting on the board in the first inning when, after a leadoff single, Keller Bloodworth shot a triple to right field and would later score on a throwing error on the same play. Medford continued their steady attack by scoring two more runs in the second and adding four more in the third.

The Falcons got their lone run of the ballgame in the fourth inning when P.J. Safford and Corbin Hamilton worked walks to get on base. Carson Siems lined a double to left field, scoring Safford.

The largest output in a single inning was the fifth, when Medford plated eight runs, ballooning the lead to 19-1. Back-to-back doubles from Bloodworth and Sean McFall helped Medford score four runs in the inning.

Both teams pitched by committee in this non-league contest. A combined 11 pitchers saw playing time in the ballgame, but despite that, both starters picked up the decision. Medford’s Freeman Roundtree tossed 2.0 innings without allowing a hit. Klamath Falls’ Hayden Poore worked 2.0 innings, allowing two hits and four runs (two earned) and striking out two batters.

Medford continues their season on June 13th when they begin a tournament in Petaluma, California. The Falcons have their league and home opener on June 12th against the North Medford Mavericks.
