KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech men’s basketball coach Justin Parnell has announced the signing of transfer Colby Whicker to a Cascade Conference Letter of Intent for the 2025-26 season.

The sophomore led Southwestern Oregon Community College to a 24-9 record and a runner-up finish in the 2025 NWAC Championships – averaging 14 points and three assists per game, while recording a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.

“Colby is everything you want in a guard,” Parnell said. “He can handle it, shoot it, and has a calming presence about him when he plays. He will immediately make us better going into next year.”

Originally from Davis High in Utah, Whicker was selected to the NWAC All-Tournament Team, NWAC All-South Region and was named a NABC NWAC All-American.

“Colby is just one of those players you want to be around daily,” said SWOCC head coach, Riley Grandinetti. “He is a great person who is from an unbelievable family. His basketball skills have continued to improve to the point that he has received almost every award he could get in the NWAC. I can’t wait to see what he does for Oregon Tech the next few years.”

Whicker joins freshmen Owen Nathan, Gylan Payne, James Kefgen, Mason Bierbrauer and Kyle Bittle as members of the 2025-26 recruiting class.

Tech is set to open the season on Friday, October 24, with a non-league match-up vs. Southern Oregon.
