KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Fifth-year senior Jayce Seavert went 3-for-4, including the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning, lifting top-seed Oregon Tech to a 4-2 victory over the University of Jamestown at the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round Klamath Falls Bracket in Stilwell Stadium.

The win for the Lady Owls (43-9) moves the club into tomorrow’s semifinals, meeting No. 3-seed Midland University at 1:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, UJ (36-16) defeated Arizona Christian, 10-6, with Midland topping Southeastern, 6-3. ACU and Southeastern will play in an elimination game Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the winner facing Jamestown at 4 p.m.

After a 40-minute lightning delay prior to first pitch, Tech found themselves trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning, as the No. 4-seeded Jimmies got an RBI single from Sydney Grendler in the second, with Trinity Gregg legging out an inside-the-park homer into the left field corner in the third.

After stranding seven runners on base in the first four innings, the Owls tied the score in the fifth. Zoe Allen led off with a double and scored on a single by Puakea Milbourne. With two outs, Addison Kachnik singled to center to plate the tying run.

An inning later, OIT took their first lead. Tech put runners at first and second with no outs, with Seavert lining a base-hit to center to score Malia Mick – with Nita Cook scoring on the play when the throw from the outfield eluded the Jimmies third baseman.

Kacie Schmidt did the rest, retiring the final 12 batters in order for her 23rd win – allowing just six hits and striking out nine. Milbourne, Kachnik and Marla Goodspeed had two hits in the Owls 12-hit attack.
