The Darlene 3 fire, which sparked one mile south of La Pine Tuesday afternoon, is now estimated to be just over 2,400 acres in size and 30% contained. The Oregon State Fire Marshal said four of the six task forces it mobilized to the fire arrived early Wednesday morning and their initial focus will be keeping the fire within its current footprint.
The fire’s rapid spread Tuesday prompted Governor Tina Kotek to invoke the Emergency Conflagration Act, which allowed the OSFM to mobilize resources to assist local fire crews.
