Fremont-Winema National Forest seeks project proposals

LAKEVIEW, OR, May 30, 2024— Have a great idea? Are you looking for a way to get involved and make a difference? Here is your chance to offer inputs and suggestions that can benefit the communities and the National Forest in Klamath and Lake counties.

The Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) is seeking proposals for Forest improvements projects. Projects can be located on federal, private, or state lands and must offer benefits to the National Forest system lands. Proposals will be accepted beginning Tuesday, June 4th and ending Monday, July 8th.

Project proposals include, but are not limited to, roads, trails, infrastructure maintenance or obliterations, soil productivity improvements, forest ecosystem health improvements, watershed restoration, wildlife and fish habitat restorations, noxious weed control and native species re-establishment, or maintenance in those or other areas.

To submit a proposal:
1) Go to the Fremont-Winema Advisory Committees website at Fremont-Winema National Forest – Advisory Committees (usda.gov)
2) Select the appropriate form under project proposals.

The RAC is a committee comprised of members of the public who represent specific interest groups in three separate categories for the Fremont-Winema National Forest. These members are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture and serve four-year terms. The members provide advice and recommendations to the National Forest concerning projects and funding related to Title II of the Secure Rural Schools Self- Determination Act. Members meet one to four times a year to review projects for funding. Areas for recommendation includes lands in both Klamath and Lake counties.
