KCSO, Search and Rescue looking for missing mushroom hunter

At 11:45am on Friday May 3rd, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a person believed to be missing in the area of Dead Indian Memorial Rd and Keno Access Rd west of Klamath Falls near Lake of the Woods. Reported missing is Gerald “Jerry” Duane Severson, a 56-year-old male Applegate Valley resident. The initial report indicated Mr. Severson had went to the area with friends to hunt for mushrooms and was last seen walking into the woods by himself in the vicinity of Dead Indian Memorial Rd and Keno Access Rd in the late afternoon hours of Thursday May 2nd. Friends searched for him Thursday evening and Friday morning before contacting Klamath County 911 Friday just before noon.

Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Search and Rescue personnel spent Friday afternoon until after dark searching for Mr. Severson with no success. The search was resumed Saturday morning with approximately 50 Search and Rescue personnel from Klamath, Jackson, Douglas, Lake, Siskiyou and Del Norte counties combing the area during intermittent rain and snow showers.

Mr. Severson was last seen wearing dark colored Carhart pants and a dark colored hooded sweatshirt/jacket. He is approximately 5’4”, 140 lbs with short brown hair.
