BLM: Klamath Falls field office selling firewood permits

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— The Bureau of Land Management Klamath Falls Field Office will begin selling
firewood permits starting April 15, 2024.

To purchase a firewood permit online:
1. Go to https://forestproducts.blm.gov/
2. Click on Oregon, select the Field Office, and then select Fuelwood.
3. Complete and submit the application.
4. Enter your credit/debit card information. Your payment will be processed within minutes, and you will
then print your permit.

You will also receive an email with all the maps, stipulations, load tags, and documentation you will need to
cut and remove products from BLM land safely. All purchased permits are final; no refunds will be granted.

Firewood cutting permits are for personal use only. The cost of a firewood permit is $5 per cord, two cord
minimum, eight cord maximum per household per year. Permits are valid for each calendar year.

“It’s the woodcutter’s responsibility to obtain, understand, and follow the rules in effect at the time and place
where they are cutting firewood,” said Acting Field Manager Mike Limb. “Including current fire restrictions
and requirements for chainsaw operation.”

A commercial firewood permit is required for individuals who want more than eight cords and want to cut
wood for resale or commercial use.

While out cutting firewood, remember to have your permit and map. Follow all permit stipulations and use
caution to prevent wildfires. Please stay on existing roads and review your map to ensure you are on lands
managed by the BLM and within authorized firewood cutting units.

For more information or to purchase your permit in person, call the Klamath Falls Field Office at 541-883-
6916.
