Three arrested after Northern California crime spree

DORRIS, Calif. – Three men are in custody after a crime spree that stretched from Redding to Dorris Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol said it received reports of a stolen Ford F-350 heading northbound on Interstate 5 from Redding Thursday morning. The Ford then stopped in Lake Shastina, and the three men in it got out and began breaking into vehicles. When confronted by a citizen, one of the men displayed a gun.

Next, the three men drove the stolen Ford northbound on Highway 97, where CHP began pursuing them. The chase went on until the Ford crashed at an intersection in Dorris and the three suspects ran away on foot.

One of the suspects was apprehended immediately, but the other two escaped. Police said a loaded magazine for the gun was found in the truck, but not the gun itself. The second suspect was eventually caught Thursday afternoon, and the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday morning that the third suspect, who had taken the gun, had been arrested.
