LA GRANDE, Ore. – Seventh inning home runs from Kaila Mick and Puakea Milbourne helped Oregon Tech avert a sweep by Eastern Oregon, rallying to take the series finale, 3-1, at Peggy Anderson Field.

The Mountaineers (9-3, 2-1 CCC) won the conclusion of yesterday’s suspended game, 10-0, while Game 4 of the series was canceled.

The Lady Owls (9-6, 1-2) trailed 1-0 heading into the seventh inning of the finale – as EOU ace Kaylie Hoskins was spinning a 1-hit shutout. Mick broke up the shutout with one swing, lining a solo homer over the right-center field wall. Following a Lexi Klum single, Milbourne drove a pitch over the center field wall to give Tech the lead.

Kacie Schmidt did the rest, working around a 2-out single in the seventh to secure the win – holding EOU to five hits and striking out five.

Eastern dominated the resumption of Saturday’s game that was suspended due to cold temperatures and snow. Madylin Durham keyed a 4-run first inning with a 2-run double and capped a 5-run fourth inning with a 2-run 2-base hit, as the Mounties claimed a run-rule win.

Starter Kylie Parsons tossed a 2-hit shutout, striking out five.

OIT returns home next weekend, hosting the University of Providence in a 4-game series at Stilwell Stadium.
