Failed Traffic Stop Causes Accident, Yields Arrest

Klamath Falls, ORE– Just after 10:00 pm on Tuesday a Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup near the intersection of Freida and Derby Street.

The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.  Moments later at the intersection of Madison Street and South 6th Street, the fleeing driver entered the intersection at a high rate of speed against a red-light signal and was struck by a westbound Ford Explorer which had the right of way.

The driver of the fleeing pickup and the two occupants of the other vehicle were transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center by ambulance.

The passenger of the Explorer was admitted for observation and the driver was treated and released.

39-year-old Vincent Reilly a Klamath Falls resident was the operator of the fleeing vehicle. He was treated and released from the hospital, was taken into custody, and is currently lodged at the Klamath County Jail.

Crash investigators from the Oregon State Police are conducting the crash investigation. Vincent Michael Reill was charged with DUI, Reckalace driving, attempt to elude police, 3rd-degree assault, and unlawful possession of Methamphetamine
