Glendale, Ariz – Bo Nix ended his Duck tenure with an excellent afternoon in The Grand Canyon State. The fifth-year senior tossed five touchdowns and 363 yards to lead Oregon to a 45-6 Fiesta Bowl victory over Liberty.
Oregon found themselves trailing after the first quarter 6-3, but with 12:53 to go in the second, Nix threw the first of four touchdowns in the frame when he found Gary Bryant Jr. in the endzone. The Ducks claimed the lead and never gave it up.
Along with a great day from Nix, Oregon got contributions from Bucky Irving who rushed for 117 yards and a score. Tez Johnson hauled in 11 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown. Traeshon Holden caught five passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.
For Liberty, Kaidon Salter completed 15 of 24 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception in the dreadful second quarter for the Flames. Their leading rusher was Quinton Cooley who had eight carries for 79 yards. CJ Daniels grabbed eight passes for 79 yards and led the Flames in receiving.
Oregon will finish their final Pac-12 campaign 12-2 overall. This victory also makes Dan Lanning 2-0 in bowl games at Oregon, having won the Holiday Bowl in 2022. Meanwhile, Liberty fell to 13-1 overall to end the 2023 season.
