Low Income Housing Development in Klamath Falls

Low Income Housing Development in Klamath FallsKlamath Falls, Ore. – The Klamath Falls City Council met for a work session Monday to discuss a new low-income housing development.  Klamath Housing Authority is working to build a new 72-unit townhouse development near Homedale road. The council by and large liked what they heard saying more affordable housing is imperative for the city, especially in light of the new F35 initiative which is expected to bring all sorts of new families to the basin. The new development will be managed by Klamath Housing and rent for the townhouses will be on a sliding scale based on low to moderate-income standards.

The project if fully approved is expected to be completed in 2025.  Council member Kelsey Mueller Wendt expressed approval of the project saying she thinks if the project goes through, there should be more development of food stores saying, “It quite a trek to get to the next  grocery store and Albertson’s isn’t exactly the most affordable location, so I would love to see some more exploration of developing these almost food deserts.”
