Commissioners Move to Oust Sheriff Before Ethics Probe Conclusion

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The ethics investigation into Sheriff Chris Kaber has torn apart the department and right now the Sheriff has been left with the ultimatum that either he resigns by Dec 27th or his sons, who work for the Klamath County Sheriffs office will be terminated.

According to Sheriff Kaber, who spoke via email yesterday afternoon, hundreds of local citizens have contacted him by phone, email, text, and in local stores, advising him to not cave to the ridiculous and unnecessary scenario.

A call to the ethics commission yesterday revealed that the decision from the ethics board won’t come until February 9th. So the question remains will the commission force the resignation of an elected official prior to any official answer from the ethics board? We also asked Sheriff Kaber if he plans on running for re-election and he says he hopes and prays a good candidate emerges, that he could support, but until that person shows up he refuses to completely close the door on the idea of running for re-election.
