Museum Levy for Klamath Falls Over Due

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Museums of Klamath County have an issue before the voters to raise the current levy on the taxable property from $5 for every thousand dollars in property value to $10.

The museum has faced increases in cost by upwards of 92% in the last ten years with unreliable revenue derived from the Transient Room Tax. They get 42% of the annual budget from that tax with 58% coming from the taxpayer levy, but with increased expenses and revenue losses from the pandemic in the hotels, they have struggled to keep up.

At the new rate, houses worth $150,000 will pay $15 per year to help the museum and even homes worth a million will only pay $100 to support the museum which has been voted as the number 1 attraction in Klamath Falls by Travelocity for the last 10 years running.
