Exclusive Interview with Commissioner Derrick DeGroot

Here is what we know so far. Klamath County Commissioner Derrick DeGroot filed an ethics complaint against Sheriff Chris Kaber on June 20th. In the complaint, Degroot says the Kaber violated ethics rules when he promoted his own son who has worked in the Sheriff’s department as a patrol deputy since 2008 to Detective Sergeant with a 4% clothing allowance as part of his position. DeGroot also said in his complaint that the position was not offered to others in the department. Sheriff Kaber responded through his lawyer saying that the decision was handled by others and that he in no way used his position to advance the career of his son, Ryan Kaber. Commissioner DeGroot will visit the KAGO studios Thursday to talk about his efforts as a commissioner and we will be asking him about this complaint. KAGO News received these documents from Sheriff Chris Kaber in response to the allegations and we would like to invite Sheriff Kaber in for an interview to hear his thoughts.
