11 Billion in Loans and Grants for Rural Electric Cooperatives

$11 billion is available starting today for rural electric cooperatives to deploy clean energy. The Biden administration is dispersing 11 billion dollars in loans and grants for rural electric cooperatives. In Oregon, the most pressing issue in rural areas is transmission lines. The head of the Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Ted Case, said co-ops in the state run largely on clean energy thanks to hydropower, but notes the state’s grid needs more transmission lines. The money from the Biden Administration will come from the Inflation Reduction Act passed last year.
